Emma Brophy
Emma Brophy is a Colorado-based photographer, guide, and ski patroller. Growing up in Madison, Wisconsin, she developed a deep appreciation for natural spaces while spending weekends exploring state parks with her dad. Her passion for wilderness expeditions took root as she led extended whitewater canoe trips in Canada.
In 2017, Emma moved to the Gunnison Valley to study art, outdoor education, and environmental policy at Western Colorado University. After graduating, she spent her winters working as an Adaptive Ski Instructor with the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center before transitioning to ski patrol at Copper Mountain. In recent summers, she has continued exploring rivers across the West with the National Outdoor Leadership School and BOEC.
Through documentary-style photography, Emma strives to tell the stories of the people and places she encounters. She views her art not only as a creative practice, but as a way of life—an opportunity to connect with new communities, landscapes, and experiences. As an outdoor educator, she weaves together her passions for backcountry travel, environmental stewardship, and photography. In the off-season, she works with small businesses and members of her local community as a freelance photographer and graphic designer.

Have a project in mind or an idea that lives outside? I’m always excited to collaborate with people and brands who care about wild places, strong communities, and honest storytelling. Whether it’s in the mountains, on the river, or in your small business, let’s create something meaningful together.
